What is this?
GrueLight is a home for interactive fiction — games you play by typing. You read where you are, then tell the game what to do in plain words, and a story unfolds a command at a time. No graphics‑first, no twitch reflexes; just a world, a parser, and your own curiosity. It's a loving descendant of Colossal Cave Adventure and the great Zork/Infocom games — lamps, locked doors, hidden words, and, yes, grues.

A Lamp Against the Dark
A keeper has vanished from a lonely light on the western rocks. In his quarters waits a book that speaks of a door at the foot of the world — one the sea uncovers for only three hours at the lowest tide. Read the tides, carry a flame into the dark, and find out where that door leads. Chapters 1–3 are playable now — Chapter 4, the way home, is coming soon.

The Library has empty shelves and a working letterbox. Write a short tale in the old style — rooms, puzzles, and a good dark — and the keepers will carve the chosen ones into the engine, under your name, free to all.
